This limitation does not apply to Lightroom 6.8 or later. For this reason, converting to DNG on import in Lightroom 6.7 is disabled for Canon Dual Pixel Raw files. The last version of Camera Raw supported by CS5 is v6.7 (Camera Raw 6.7 Update is the last update of CS5 as you can see on the official Adobe Photoshop update page. However, wild goose chase of research said that Camera Raw 6.7 is indeed the version I need for my PS CS5.

I am able to export the Panasonic RW2 files to PS. I have a gifted version of PS 5.1 (without license number) with Camera Raw version 6.7 and Lightroom 4.4 (with license number). When using Lightroom 6.7, Canon CR2 files generated with Dual Pixel Raw enabled require the 'Embed Original Raw File' option be selected when converting to DNG. Adobe Labs has posted a release candidate of Adobe Camera Raw 6.7 and DNG Converter 6.7 at Adobe uses its 'release candidate' label to indicate.
